Sprint Joins the Board of Tizen Association

14 May 2012 - LONDON, UK - Tizen Association is very pleased to announce that Sprint, the major US carrier, has joined the Tizen Association Board of Directors. 

Sprint is the first North American carrier to join the Tizen Association and Fared Adib, Sprint vice president of product, will serve on the Tizen Association Board of Directors.

Tizen 1.0 Larkspur SDK and Source Code Release

1 May 2012 - LONDON, UK - Tizen Association is pleased to cascade the announcement that Tizen 1.0 Larkspur, which includes new complimentary components and source code that focuses on enhancing stability and performance, has been released today at www.tizen.org.

Larkspur also includes new features and improvements to the SDK, including a browser based simulator that supports Tizen APIs, more flexibility around templates and debugging and significantly improved emulator performance. In addition, updates to the platform source code include web, location and connectivity enhancements such as POI (Point of Interest) support and Wi-Fi Direct key features. 

Tizen 1.0 Larkspur offers an improved experience for developers with further improvements and additions expected over the coming weeks along with frequent updates to the SDK and source code.

Tizen Software Platform Gains Momentum and Adds Industry Support

Huawei joins Tizen Association Board of Directors as Updated Platform is Introduced 

28 February, 2012 – BARCELONA, SPAIN – Tizen Association and Linux Foundation today announced important progress updates that advance the Tizen software platform towards market introduction.  Included in today’s announcement is the release of the beta release of the Tizen platform source code and SDK and the news that Huawei has joined the Tizen Association Board of Directors.

As announced today by the Tizen Technical Steering Group on tizen.org, developers are encouraged to start working with the new features and functionality of the Tizen beta source code and SDK and provide feedback to help improve the platform during the final stages of its development. The beta release features an updated UI framework and web APIs for easier development of rich web applications and the Tizen SDK now features Windows® operating system support in addition to Ubuntu to provide developers with greater choice in managing their projects. Tizen Association Launched to Drive Industry Engagement for Tizen™

Further to the announcement of 27 September 2011 from LiMo Foundation and Linux Foundation, Tizen Association has now been formed to drive industry engagement and in-market support for the Tizen software platform.Tizen Association comprises mobile industry leaders (see company list below) serving as a Board to guide Tizen and its application ecosystem to fulfill the broad industry requirement for a software platform that enables flexibility in service selection and deployment.

LiMo Foundation And Linux Foundation Announce New Open Source Software Platform

New cross-device and cross-architecture platform will drive standards-based web applications

September 27, 2011 – LONDON, ENGLAND and SAN FRANCISCO, USA – LiMo Foundation™ and the Linux Foundation today announced a new open source project, Tizen™, to develop a Linux-based device software platform. Hosted at the Linux Foundation, Tizen is a standards-based, cross-architecture software platform which supports multiple device categories including smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, netbooks and in-vehicle infotainment systems. The initial release of Tizen is targeted for Q1 2012, enabling first devices to come to market in mid-2012.
